A delightful blend of youthful comedy and deft drama, writer/director Clay Liford’s thoroughly engaging film manages to retain just the right sense of innocence even as the story skirts close to ominous sexual creepiness. Fifteen-year-old Texas high schooler Neil (Michael Johnson) puts his homoerotic longings into his fan faction about a sci-fi hero, but while mocked by fellow students he is befriended by older and savvy Julia (Hannah Marks) who writes erotic fan fiction and encourages Neil to post his work on an adults-only fan site.
