Last year Steve Taylor-Bryant delved into the unknown as he broke down thirteen seasons of Supernatural into 13 Top 5 articles. Now he catches up with his Top 5 episodes from Season 14...

Season 14 has a much more biblical feel to it than previous years which, considering we've been dealing with all things biblical for over a decade, may seem like a moot point. However, with Michael stealing Dean as his vessel, Jack’s soul at risk and problems for heaven throughout there is most decidedly an old testament vibe, a more serious Supernatural, if you will, despite the season being full of Dean and Cas and their humorous one liners. Season 14 was also the strongest for a long while, a rarity in such long running network shows and narrowing it down to five episodes was tougher than it had been for a few years but there were two episodes that were absolute standouts and those of you have seen all of Season 14 will most probably agree with my choices at the top end of the list…

Supernatural Season 14 Nihilism

5 – Episode 10: Nihilism

Dean Winchester: What you got?

Pamela Barnes: Worst part of working here is having to clean up the blood after some pissed-off monster busts in to kill you.

Dean Winchester: Well, what can I say? I'm famous.

Michael retakes control of Dean as his army of monsters continue to move in; Sam devises a plan to reach Dean and stop Michael before anyone else dies.

Supernatural Season 14 Peace of Mind

4 – Episode 15: Peace of Mind

Sam Winchester: "Like a ripe melon on the sun"?

Castiel: It was an apt metaphor.

Sam Winchester: Okay, well, maybe try to be a little less... apt.

Sam and Castiel follow a case to a picturesque little town in Arkansas, only to find out nothing is as idyllic as it appears to be. Dean and Jack take a road trip to visit an old friend.

Supernatural Season 14 Peace of Mind

3 – Episode 4: Mint Condition

Sam Winchester: You know, I think I know why Stuart changed his story. Uh, the comments on his video are all pretty brutal. People are calling him a liar, a loser, "ThunderSpaz", Snarf's love child, Panthro's bi...

Dean Winchester: Rhymes with "itch"?

Sam Winchester: Yep.

Dean Winchester: Got to love the Internet, where everyone can be a dick.

Dean continues to struggle, and then Sam has to think when action figures come to life and Dean finds himself inside a real life horror movie.

Supernatural Season 14 Moriah

2 – Episode 20: Moriah

Dean Winchester: The hell, Chuck?

Chuck Shurley: This isn't how the story is supposed to end.

Castiel: The story?

Chuck Shurley: Look it, the - the - the gathering storm, the gun, the - the father killing his own son. This is Abraham and Isaac. This is epic!

Dean Winchester: Wait. What are you saying?

Sam Winchester: He's saying he's been playing us. This whole time.

Chuck Shurley: Come on.

Sam Winchester: Our entire lives. Mom, Dad - everything. This is all you because you wrote it all, right? Because - Because what? Because we're your favorite show? Because we're part of your story?

Chuck Shurley: Okay, Dean, no offense, but your brother is stupid and crazy. And that kid is still dangerous. So pick up the gun. Pick it up... pull the trigger... and I'll bring her back. Your mom.

Dean Winchester: No. No. My mom was my hero. And I miss her, and I will miss her every second of my life, but she would not want this. And it's not like you even really care. 'Cause Sam's right. The Apocalypse, the first go-around, with Lucifer and Michael - you know everything that was going on, so why the games, Chuck, huh? Why don't You just snap your fingers and end it?

Chuck Shurley: Look, I...

Sam Winchester: And every bad thing we've been killing, been dying over - where were you? Just sitting back and watching us suffer so we can do this over and over and over again - fighting, losing people we love? When does it end? Tell me?

Chuck Shurley: Dean, don't do this.

Dean Winchester: No, we're done talking. 'Cause this - this isn't just a story. It's our lives! So God or no God, you go to hell.

Chuck Shurley: Have it your way.

Sam, Dean and Castiel are thrown into an epic battle. Meanwhile, Jack becomes disenchanted with all the lies, and an old friend from the past shows up.

Supernatural Season 14 Lebanon

1 – Episode 13: Lebanon

John Winchester: A "temporal paradox"?

Dean Winchester: That's what Sam's calling it. Egghead. Basically, uh, if you don't go back, Sam never gets back into the life, um, and Mom, she, uh...

John Winchester: What?

Dean Winchester: Well, without everything that we did - with God, The Darkness - she never comes back. Sam thinks that she'll just fade away.

John Winchester: Okay. I mean, me versus your mom? That's - That's not even a choice.

Sam and Dean look to occult lore for a solution to their latest problem, but instead of a resolution, they find much more than either of them had anticipated.
