Film - Light House Media Centre

We are huge supporters of independent creatives and always do our best to support and promote indie films, books and more here on the website. Today though we want to highlight an indie film venue that needs your help...

Based in the heart of Wolverhampton, the registered charity Light House Media Centre is under severe threat of closure, with council funding cut back in April 2016.

A wide and diverse creative and cultural base for Wolverhampton, Light House Media Centre offers film and theatre screenings, exhibitions and events as well as providing an accessible and friendly venue for charity groups, community networks, young people, the older community, professional & amateur artists and musicians. They are the ONLY independent cinema in the Black Country and have been based in the Chubb Buildings for 25 years, supported both by council funding and charitable donations.

Friend of DCMG, Darryl Griffiths makes a personal appeal to independent filmmakers and artists across the West Midlands in the video below and we echo the sentiment. So if you're an indie film-maker looking for a screen to show your work, an artist looking for exhibition space or part of a local group that just needs a place to meet, please consider utilising the space available at the Media Centre and collaborating with them. And if you're not any of these, then visit anyway, see the exhibitions and films, put bums on seats and money in coffers and support the venue as they bid to keep the lights on at Light House.

Find out more about Light House Media Centre on their website, support them financially by giving donations on their LocalGiving page or their CROWDFUNDER link, follow them on Twitter at @lighthousemedia and follow Darryl Griffiths for more information on Twitter at @LegallyBOD.
