Film - British Independent Film Award Winners

The winners of the 2016 British Independent Film Awards were announced last night...

The film American Honey swept the boards at the BIFA's last night, winning 4 of the 6 categories it was nominated for with Best Film, Best Director for Andrea Arnold, Best Actress for Sasha Lane and Outstanding Achievement in Craft for the cinematography of Robbie Ryan.

The other big winner of the night, at the ceremony opened by Jennifer Saunders at Old Billingsgate in London, was Under the Shadow, winning 3 of its 6 nominations by picking up Best Screenplay, Best Supporting Actress for Avin Manshadi and Babak Anvari getting the Douglas Hickox Award for Debut Director.

Surprisingly I, Daniel Blake only picked up 2 awards, for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actress, as did Adult Life Skills, for Best Screenwriter and Best Supporting Actor.
