SotD - Men's Health Week: Rammstein

This week we’re highlighting Men’s Health Week (12th to the 18th of June). As this year’s focus is on reducing belly fat because of the health concerns of having a waist over 37”, our own gym bunny Reece Morris-Jones will be providing seven tracks you can add to your workout playlist (or to create the basis of one if you haven’t got one yet)...

Today’s song is Mein Hertz Brent by the German rockers Rammstein. No strangers to operatic-feeling songs, it none-the-less marked the first time the band had added classical instruments to its signature industrial sound.

As singer Till Lindemann growls dark nursery rhymes in your ear (a sample of the lyrics: Sie kommen zu euch in der Nacht und stehlen eure kleinen heißen Tränen/They come to you in the night and steal your small hot tears) the strings swell until guitar and violin intertwine to form a movement that not only races the pulse, but makes you feel like more of a refined person whilst listening.

The rise and fall of the song is great for those who need a bit of extra energy to keep going during a workout, whilst the tempo is steady, allowing for a slow burn whilst feeling like a badass. All the better for those who need that methodical pace, be it running or weight lifting.
