SotD - Family Scraps

Neil Gardner is a bit of an audio guru, being the brains behind an award winning spoken word production company. But sometimes he likes to retreat from the digital studio to listen to some music analogue style, on vinyl. This time it's a single from Family Scraps...

Format: black 7″ vinyl

Side A: a haunting atmosphere built by beautiful blend of male and female vocals backed by a hypnotic baseline and sparkling guitar. Faint shifts of 60s psychedelia mixed with a 90s indie vibe invites the listener into a ghostlike world of imagination and transient experiences.

Side B: laid back low down mythical vocals underscored by confident bass and relaxed drums. The guitar weaves between the vocals as lyrics offer a mesmerising glimpse of somewhere entirely different. Stunning distorted guitar solo builds the mystery to be followed by more questioning vocals. Gloriously laid back, chilled but insistent. An example of indie storytelling at its finest.

Finyl Thought: mythical nougat temptation
