Film - Sonic the Hedgehog

More than 6 months later than first advertised, watch the new trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog (or, rather, TWO new trailers and one old one)...

Way back in the mists of, well, late April, there was a trailer for the new Sonic the Hedgehog movie. The interwebs went wild about it, but not for the reason you may think. Sonic. Had. TEETH. Yes, the design of our favourite blue speedy spiny video game character was ALLLL WRONGGGGG. He was too tall and skinny and had very humanised features and it honestly looked like a bloke in a suit.

See for yourself; our Ed went digging back into the Paramount trailer archives and found the original trailer from back in April (thanks Paramount India!)...

So, yeah, OMG, WTF, and other TLA (three letter acronyms - Ed) what the hell were they thinking?!  Not only was the look all wrong, the trailer just didn't hit the mark and... Gangsta's Paradise? Really??

Well, apparently the high heid yins (EdSpeak for "bosses" - Ed) at Paramount took note of the social media backlash because yesterday saw the release of a "new and improved" Sonic the Hedgehog trailer and YAY the li'l blue guy looks a lot more like the computer game character we all know and love. Shorter and chunkier with big anime style eyes and, most importantly, not nearly such freaky teeth! All of which leads us to believe that the PR team behind the April trailer knew what they were doing because now we're all talking about the film and eager to see the new trailer. Clever or what?

Anyway, here's the UK version of the new trailer...

There, isn't that so much better? This actually looks like a film that may be good fun. Different Sonic, different soundtrack, Jim Carrey still being as mad as a box of frogs. All good.

BUT...

On our trawl through the Paramount Sonic trailer posts, we also discovered that the Paramount USA trailer has an EXTRA 34 seconds of footage that the UK one doesn't have... so we thought we'd share that one with you too. Let's Play Ball...

Sonic the Hedgehog zooms onto the big screen (hopefully unchanged this time) on 14th February.
