#NotBaconBits - From The Dream Academy to...

Yesterday we played Life in a Northern Town by The Dream Academy. So what song was chosen for today's #NotBaconBits connection? Thank the literary genius that is @IronWrites ...

As always for #NotBaconBits, once you've listened to today's choice, we're looking for your suggestions for tomorrow's track. Join in by tweeting us @albiemediaAM with the #NotBaconBits hashtag or adding your suggestions in the comments of our #NotBaconBits Facebook posts - remember the link can be as simple or contrived as you want, in any music genre (it doesn't have to be classical or pop) and you can link to anything about the song - the title, the artist, words in the song, something about the video ... anything as long as you can explain how you got there and show your workings. If we pick your suggestion for the link, you'll get the credit in that day's article and shout outs on our social networking streams.

There was some discussion online as to the tenuous nature of yesterday's link but the Editor's decision is final [so nyah - Ed] and we then got down to some superb connections for today.

@RenZelen said "Neil Tennant of the Pet Shop Boys WAS born in a Northern town (North Shields) before he moved to London & worked with Dusty on ‘What Have I Done to Deserve This’. He returned to his Northern roots collaborating with Bernard Sumner & Johnny Marr on ‘Getting Away with It’." Both great songs!

@JimJamGin kept it simple with "Keeping it simple. Northern. Northern Soul. Soul. (Album) Psychedelic Soul - The Temptations. Track 1 - Cloud Nine." Nicely done!

A very near winner, because of the stupendous song choice is this one from @WolfPaw36 "Life in the North was never given a better stage.... Dire Straits, Industrial Disease" You can listen to that here.

But this is today's #NotBaconBits connection from @IronWrites - "My submission for the next #notbaconbits is simple. It is a known fact that the further you go North, there are two things you encounter more of. Ginger people, and pies. They love a pie up North, so they do. I humbly submit Pisces, by Jinjer."

So now it's your turn. What will you link to for tomorrow's song? Fish? Zodiac signs? Ginger? Something else? The choice is yours, as long as you can show your working and tell us how you get there!
