Today at the Proms - Proms 22 & 23

Continuing our daily coverage of what's on at The Proms 2018, Susan Omand has a quick look at the programme for Prom 22: A London Symphony and Prom 23: From Kingston to Havana  ...

Another double date at the Proms today and we're being all very geographic about it.

First up is a brace of London Symphonies, one from Haydn and one from Vaughan Williams, giving us two contrasting views of the big smoke.

Then we jet from London to Cuba and the Caribbean for the later Prom which finds Australia’s leading reggae and dancehall producer Mista Savona (aka Jake Savona) alongside some of Cuba’s and Jamaica’s most influential musicians to create a fusion of roots reggae, dub and dancehall on the one hand and son, salsa, rumba and Afro-Cuban on the other. I must admit I have a bit of a problem with "non-classical" music at the Proms, however each to their own. Here's a taster of the kind of thing we're going to get, taken from the album and documentary by Savona to get you dancing for a Tuesday.

Here's the full programme for this evening's Prom which you can listen to live on Radio 3 or on the iPlayer
