Listen Again - Filmhouse Friday

Every Friday, Daniel White takes over the airwaves at the online radio station Incapable Staircase for 90 minutes of some of the best songs used in films, along with "occasionally interesting bits of information." Catch up with yesterday's show...

Here's this week's playlist:

La-La-Love Shack (that's where its at) - The B-52s - Frankie & Johnny
Video Killed The Radio Star - The Buggles (what a bizarre name) - Take This Waltz
Walk Like an Egyptian - The Bangles - My Big Fat Greek Wedding (the sequel (2))
Together in Electric Dreams - Phil Oakey - (rather predictably) Electric Dreams
99 Luftballons [brush up your German - Ed] - Nena
You Can Call Me Al - Al Simon - Game Over Man (not Jeremy Clarkson)
Uh, Oh, don't listen to this song - No seriously don't - Welp, don't say we didn't try to warn you
Just Can't Get Enough [oh I've had more than enough - Ed] - Depeche Mode - Say Anything ["Anything" - Ed]
Girls Just Want to Have Fun - Cyndi Lauper - from the film *incoherent rambling*
I Love Rock n Roll (put another dime in the jukebox baybee) - Joan Jett & the Blackhearts - The Runaways
Groove is in the Heart - Deee-Lite - Rob the Mob (which nobody has heard of)
I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me) - Whitney Houston [we have a problem? - Ed]
Every Little Thing She Does is Magic [Eeyore! Eeyore! - Ed] - The Police
Never Can Say Goodbye - The unpunctuated Communards - A Hologram For the King [oh you're just making stuff up now - Ed]
Pump Up the Jam [other toast coverings may be available - Ed] - [this beat is] Technotronic
[cue a bit of a radical remix to] From Russia With Love - Matt Monro - yes it's the Bond theme sung karaoke style in an 80s bar
Personal Jesus - Depeche Mode [Johnny Cash did it better - Ed] - Smug Castle
Don't You Want Me - The Human League - Pretty Much Everything
Can't Fight This Feeling - REO Speedwagon [not to be confused with the biscuit van Oreo speedwagon] - Horton Hears a Hoo?
Three Lions [*sings* "You're going home, you're going home, you're going!" - Ed] - Baddiel and Skinner and the Lightning Seeds

iNCAPABLE STAiRCASE is an internet-based community station that is passionate about real radio; unrehearsed and raw, but it is precisely this that makes it so easy to listen to. The station has been running for just over a year and was set up by Bella and James at the start of the first Covid lockdown last year.

As news of the restrictions became public Bella and James decided to create an online radio station that would allow people to share their music, their opinions and their creativity in a space free from censorship and interference. In five minutes they had a name, randomly created by a word generator, and a logo. The heart of the station is you, it's me and its attraction is growing. With over 60 DJ's broadcasting each week, live from their own homes, and with plans for festivals and much more, now would be a great time to tune in. 2021 will prove that iNCAPABLE STAiRCASE is, in fact, very capable of stepping up and taking on the radio big names.
